Our in-house bakery team is baking an every changing range of Swiss bakery treats and other European snacks. All our products are hand made, with love and freshly prepared daily in the early morning hours . Our bakers, pastry chefs and Pizzaiolos have been trained in Europe - Switzerland and bring their European bread and baking skills to Nozawa Onsen, Japan.
In the evening from 5pm when the sun goes down, the pizza oven gets fired up for dine-in, takeaway and home delivered pizza. For table reservations in the evenings give us a call on +81 269 85 22 25
Who
The Swiss Bakery is located 50 meters up from Nakao Onsen and was established by local Swiss residents Kyoko and Gab Sutter. After some beer and the following late night chatting, the decision was made to buy a bakery oven on yahoo auction and to start baking Swiss bread, pastries and other tasty snacks. The rest is history. Our goal is to produce fresh products on a daily base using only the best ingredients.
What
All our products are hand-made with fresh, local ingredients. Come and visit us during the day in our cafe for freshly baked goods, coffee or in the evening for our Italian-style pizzas!
We also serve great local beer and wine.

“Lived up to it’s name
We had high hopes for this place as it was close to our accommodation, and it exceeded our expectations. A sneaky morning coffee without the kids before a day of skiing was an awesome way to start the day (everyday). And we also enjoyed a really lovely night out for dinner with another family. The kids and the adults looooved the pizzas and the friendly staff . We WILL be back.”
